What if I'm stupid? Signs of stupidity. Why does a person feel stupid?

Why am I so stupid? Any person who finds himself in a new, unfamiliar situation can ask a similar question. Moreover, the level of education and the degree of reading do not play any role here. He simply does not know what to do, because he has not formed certain patterns of behavior.

It's not scary, but it does give you a lot to think about. To some extent, your own knowledge can even prevent you from feeling true self-confidence. A person who suffers from a lack of self-esteem often finds himself in a situation where he begins to doubt his mental abilities and plagues himself with the question: “What if I’m stupid?”

A person who is dissatisfied with his relationships with people around him, as a rule, begins to look for the truth within himself. In some cases, the search extends over several months or even years. In order to determine your true values, you need additional time. If you don’t push yourself and don’t rush to conclusions, you can restore your peace of mind. The main thing is to be able to understand your own feelings, to understand the true reasons for the events taking place.

Inability to hear the interlocutor

Such a person is extremely inattentive to what is happening around him. He concentrates only on his own needs, and therefore tends not to notice people's reactions.

The inability to hear the interlocutor ultimately results in the fact that others begin to consider such a person not very distant. From the outside, it seems that he is completely incapable of understanding the subject of the conversation, has no idea what is being discussed, that is, he is a prominent representative of stupid people. In fact, such a person is overly focused on his own experiences.

What does stupidity consist of?

Stupidity is not the opposite of smart: it is the opposite of making good decisions. We could say that we all have an innate tendency to make mistakes. Our brains can make mistakes when making difficult decisions, especially in stressful situations.

Thus, we can define stupidity as making an important decision without considering our limitations and ignoring obvious and significant factors that influence it.

That is, it consists of making a decision:

  • ignoring our condition or the environment when making a decision;
  • not paying attention to obvious factors that are visible or easily accessible;
  • without taking into account all the important factors for the final result of the decision.

This can happen to any of us. Because we all tend to perceive reality in a somewhat distorted form. And above all, because it is difficult for us to take into account all the really important factors that influence a complex decision.

Our brains become saturated quickly and our priorities become confused. He tends to look for “shortcuts” that make the decision-making task easier, but are not more effective. If you look at each of the examples we saw at the beginning, the risk factors were visible. But they were ignored by those who made the decision. There is a human factor.

Absolutely no one is very smart, because even the smartest people make mistakes, and sometimes the biggest mistakes.

Poor learning ability

If a person has difficulty remembering any material, it is likely that he has a low memory capacity. At the same time, concentration will certainly suffer. Poor performance at school and subsequent educational institutions usually creates a significant degree of self-doubt. And many young people ask: “What should I do if I’m stupid academically?” They consider it completely useless to learn something new and apply the acquired knowledge in practice. Extreme self-doubt gives rise to additional problems associated with communication and self-realization.

It becomes difficult for a person to concentrate on the task at hand. When thinking about the question “What should I do if I’m stupid and lazy,” you should be guided by an individual approach. Each person is unique and has distinctive characteristics.

Who usually asks this question?

In fact, probably almost everyone can remember a situation when he asked himself or even out loud about the reasons for his stupidity. This most often happens if a person has done a very stupid thing and naturally repents of its consequences. And if such a person gets into the same situation several times in a row, then one naturally wants to ask why he is so stupid that he is not able to avoid stepping on a rake so regularly.

However, the question “What if I’m stupid?” (or stupid) can occur when a person realizes that his mental level is not up to the level of those around him or a single important person. Or, for example, if he cannot understand something for a very long time - as a humanist it is difficult to understand a certain physical formula.

Another option: a person, even in childhood, could be convinced that he is stupid, incapable of understanding and comprehending anything, and that there is nothing bright for him in the future. Such children's negative attitudes persist for a very long time, and it is difficult to get rid of them. Even if we are dealing with an intelligent, erudite person, he may still sincerely consider himself narrow-minded or stupid, being unable to recognize his own abilities and skills. Unfortunately, his inner mother does not allow him to do this.

Typically, the idea “I’m stupid, what should I do” most often arises in precisely those people who, in fact, have nothing wrong with their mental abilities. There is something wrong with their psyche, however, this can be corrected with several trips to a good psychologist. For people who are not really distinguished by the depth of their knowledge and the speed of their brains, the question of their own stupidity arises quite rarely, because for them this is a common state. Awareness of the peculiarities of one’s thinking comes most often in crisis situations.

Causes

In order for such a sense of self to be formed, good reasons are needed. It’s just that no one considers himself a complete nonentity. The feeling of worthlessness is dictated by the feeling of one’s own uselessness and the inability to somehow express oneself in society. Even once faced with misunderstanding, a person then expects ridicule throughout his life.

Insecure individuals tend to take too many things personally, even things that do not directly apply to them. So, what are the reasons why many people consider themselves stupid people? Let's take a closer look at them.

Habit of comparison

When a person feels stupid, in most cases conclusions are drawn based on comparing their own shortcomings with the strengths of others. And this is a big mistake! People cannot be the same and have the same amount of knowledge in all areas. Almost everyone has the habit of comparing themselves with others. It comes from a lack of self-confidence. The more we soul-search, the more difficult it actually becomes to focus on everyday tasks.

When a person compares himself with others, he thereby admits his own weakness and robs himself of precious energy. This condition cannot lead to anything good, since it hinders development.

Develop

Of course, we should not forget about books and other sources of information. Now there are a huge number of opportunities for development, even if you live in a small town, because almost everywhere there is access to the Internet. All kinds of lectures, books, trainings, courses on a variety of subjects, among which you can choose those that are interesting to you personally, and those that will suit your profession. After all, we need to develop in this area too.

It happens like this: a person realizes that he has become stupid. What to do in such a situation? In addition, if a person understands this suddenly, he may not be able to figure out what exactly interests him in life. Perhaps he grew up in an emotionally poor environment and simply does not know that one can be sincerely interested in something, strive for something. The Internet again comes to the rescue, where you can find a variety of people who are very passionate about their profession or hobby. Reading the blogs of such characters often inspires both personal achievements and development in the same business.

In addition, ordinary reading of fiction, ideally thoughtful, helps very well to develop the brain and teach it to think independently. You can keep a reading diary. Among the abundance of literature, both classical and modern, perhaps everyone can find something that suits their liking. By the way, this is often how people realize that they are not very smart - when they read a book that opens their eyes to the fact that there are things that they do not understand, although they should.

Lack of self-confidence

Only by fully realizing one's own prospects can a person move forward. Everyone has opportunities, but not everyone understands how to apply the knowledge they have in life. Lack of self-confidence actually blocks many undertakings and does not allow the personality to reveal itself. Thus, self-realization becomes impossible, since it is hampered by the strong fear of potential defeat that arises.

Each failure is experienced very hard, as if the happiness of a particular individual depends on it. “Why am I so stupid?” - a person constantly asks himself, asking himself numerous other questions about his inferiority. In most cases, he spends a long time looking for an opportunity to remake himself. This is because there is a fear of loneliness inside, coupled with the fear of not being up to par.

Signs of a person being stupid: how to stop being stupid and start thinking

Not reading books

It's a banal thing, but not all people do it. It is reading that expands your vocabulary and pushes your brain to think. You can start with 1 book per week. 10 pages a day. Then increase it. You yourself will like this business.

Guided by advice from the Internet

Of course, there is a lot of useful information here. But do not forget that situations are different and cannot be solved in one way. Instead, sit down and think about your situation. Think about what the person you always look up to would do.

Lack of interests

A stupid person has no favorite hobby. He is not interested in what is happening. He just “sits on the couch” and doesn’t develop.

No responsibility

It does not exist because a person does not want to take it upon himself. After all, to do this you need to think, think through all the steps, strain yourself, make plans and communicate with other people.

Inability to express one's thoughts

Due to lack of vocabulary, you cannot express a thought, even when explaining a simple thing. Because the brain has stopped thinking. Because of this lifestyle, the brain rests all the time. This is not always good.

Diffidence

Lack of self-confidence is another reason why a person may begin to consider himself a failure. It’s hardly surprising that he doesn’t understand much in life. If you constantly think about your own inadequacy, then you may never make progress in important matters and issues.

Self-doubt makes it very difficult to enjoy life, comprehend its boundaries and open new perspectives. It is impossible to achieve success if you constantly look back at yourself in search of answers to a wide variety of questions. You cannot oppress yourself with painful thoughts about your personal unfulfillment.

You're dumb and you'll get dumber

In his best-selling book “12 Rules for Life,” Jordan Peterson, a professor of psychology, alchemically mixed psychology, Kant, biological determinism and explained everything to everyone. He writes: we live exactly like lobsters, our evolutionary ancestors. That is, we live at the bottom, where we fight for females and resources, except that during breaks we resist Chaos, asserting our rules and values, but we are not talking about that now. We all compete with each other in a rigid dominance hierarchy that is evolutionarily older than the human race itself.

The place in the lobster hierarchy depends on the results of point fights between one lobster and another. What is important is that the outcome of such battles determines the future of both participants. More powerful and aggressive lobsters become even stronger after them, and the losers lose their serotonin supply and slouch, their claws become smaller, and all this is visible from afar. That is why the strong will continue to win, and the weak will continue to become losers.

This phenomenon is known as “Matthew’s Law,” or the Pareto distribution: the smart get smarter, the funnier get happier, the rich get richer, and 20% of people in any business carry out all the major tasks or own all the resources.

It is not for nothing that the science of biohacking and brain function is replete with reminders: learning the brain is a banal getting used to certain working patterns, getting used to it is learning the brain. First you work for the record book, and then the record book works for you. For example, if you compare the brains of a slacker and a “worker bee,” it turns out that those who are used to working and toiling for abstract (not related to immediate survival) goals have higher dopamine levels in the striatum and prefrontal cortex.

That is, workaholics have pumped up the areas responsible for motivation and reward. And slackers, greedy for immediate, undelayed pleasures, have more dopamine in areas responsible for emotions and risky behavior.

Let's return to the characters from the example: a child of intellectual parents has an initial “learning” environment that has turned the intensive absorption of “smart guy” into a habit. The friend of the erudite and that biologist had a similar habit that grew out of motivation generated by someone else’s example nearby.

Our hypothetical football player and manager have neither of these. The brain gets accustomed to certain patterns of action, “Matthew’s Law” does its job, and some heroes grow powerful claws and become smarter in some way, while for others, “I want” is never converted into “action.”

All that others lack is an established habit and the motivation to have it.

Psychological trauma

A traumatic situation is one of the most serious reasons that can undermine confidence in one’s own capabilities for a long time. It is very difficult for a person who is convinced of his impenetrable stupidity to begin to perceive himself in exactly the opposite way.

Psychological trauma and internal conflicts are a serious obstacle to feeling like a full-fledged person. The feeling of happiness depends on many factors, and it is always subjective.

When there is a conviction within that you cannot master the most basic skills, this creates an obstacle to the formation of a happy sense of self. It really seems to a person that he is not capable of anything. Such thoughts are destructive: they do not help in any way to cultivate self-confidence, but only convince a person of complete failure.

Interpersonal conflicts

Another reason why a person may consider himself narrow-minded is a feeling of resentment. It usually prevents us from adequately perceiving the surrounding reality. When some need in life is not satisfied, the individual develops internal deprivation. Sometimes a person does not understand what is happening to him because he has developed the habit of considering himself incapable of understanding the most ordinary things.

Existing conflicts with people often interfere with building normal harmonious relationships. Emotions such as fear, anger, and resentment largely inhibit personal development and prevent the emergence of a feeling of satisfaction. A person always needs to feel needed and involved in the lives of other people.

Mini tips for every day

Finally, here are some more useful recommendations for you.

  1. Follow the regime. Night vigils, work without rest, sleep until lunch - all these factors hinder mental development.
  2. Spend more time in the fresh air to enrich your cells with oxygen.
  3. Include red fish, nuts, cocoa, greens, and seaweed in your diet. These products contain substances necessary for normal brain function.
  4. Play board games - cards, chess, checkers, backgammon.
  5. Solve crosswords, solve puzzles and logic problems.
  6. Develop cognitive functions with the help of special simulators. You can find them here: Vikium, Bitreynika, BrainApps.
  7. Listen to classical music. Scientists have proven that the works of Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and other great composers stimulate brain activity.
  8. Learn to solve your problems yourself. The habit of shifting responsibility to others dampens the brain.

Working with self-esteem

Stop calling yourself stupid! It is very important to free yourself from the feeling of internal discomfort if you really want to start feeling differently.

There is no need to constantly torment yourself trying to cope with the existing problem. When a person calls himself stupid, he thereby admits his own weakness. Most likely, other people will begin to perceive it accordingly. However, it is worth remembering that a narrow-minded person will never think about his own shortcomings.

Developed reflection just means that a person is smart enough. It's just that some people don't know how to value themselves and find their strengths. You need to learn this! Working with self-esteem begins with accepting your individuality. It is impossible to achieve anything significant if you do not try for it.

Constant self-education

What if I'm stupid? This question usually comes to mind for those who suffer from low self-esteem. And to feel confident, you actually need to make significant efforts. The best thing to do would be to start educating yourself. Systematic exercises increase self-confidence and help release huge amounts of energy that can be used for useful purposes.

Self-education undoubtedly increases self-confidence. Thus, a person ceases to consider himself stupid and narrow-minded. Sometimes it will take a lot of effort to free yourself from the inner feeling of inferiority.

Talk to people

One might assume that the first piece of advice to correct human stupidity would be to read books. However, it is not. The most effective way to answer the question “What should I do, I feel stupid” is to communicate with people. Naturally, this should not be completely idle chatter. Discussion of books, films, pressing social issues, arguments and discussions - all this makes the brain tense and work intensively. Most importantly, don't worry if other people call you stupid, because it can be fixed. You should not be afraid of the assessments of others, but of your self-esteem. If in reality you are not stupid at all, but sincerely consider yourself to be such, it will be much more difficult to correct the situation.

Taking responsibility

This is an important and necessary step in order to continue moving forward when your hands give up. Accepting responsibility means you need to stop complaining about life.

When we stop blaming others for what happens in our lives, visible changes begin. You must try to ensure that your self-confidence grows and strengthens every day. If this is not done, then the person will constantly feel his complete failure in anything and will not be able to start a new business without feeling guilty.

The feeling of one’s own stupidity is a purely subjective feeling that you need to try to work with. You cannot get rid of the problem once and for all, because there is no magic pill, but you can work on yourself and change for the better.

Need some advice? Write your story I'm stupid. What if I'm dumber than a chicken? I feel uncomfortable around people. I have a dull, empty look, there is nothing to talk about with me. I can’t correspond and talk for a long time because I have nothing to say. Sometimes I don’t even understand what people are talking about. I have no desire for self-education, it is difficult for me to study or understand something. I'm just a lazy, weak-willed wimp. In all the educational institutions where I studied, I had a lot of C grades. When, like the majority, we received good grades without stress. I live in a world of my fantasies and grievances. At first I thought that the problem was in the environment, but then I realized that people change, new ones come, but nothing changes for me. People don't trust me because they probably think I'm stupid. Behind my back they call me a fool. Would you say that I have low self-esteem? No, I'm just stupid, so nothing will change if you tell me about self-esteem. I took it from scratch. I observe and understand that people are smarter than me, and I’m just a laughing stock, who graduated from school and college with grief. Even my parents value me less than my sister, because my sister is smarter and studied well. I represent nothing of myself as a person, I have done nothing worthwhile in life. An ordinary neurasthenic. I hate myself. Rate:

Wit, talents, sense of humor, abilities, etc. are not in themselves something good, good, or advantage.:) Although, they are not something bad. A person who thinks slower than others is no worse than others. The only virtue is humility, without it no good is possible. If you don’t have any talents, it’s okay, God still loves you. The main thing is to have humility and everything will be fine!

Alexey, age: 42 / 11/30/2012

Alexey, well, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m stupid, but that doesn’t make life any better. Nothing has gotten better in my life. What's the point?

Dumb, age: 23 / 30.11.2012

You are wrong to think so and you are wrong to call yourself that. Let them think whatever they want about you. But you can’t think about yourself that way, critically. For example, I understand everything about bicycles, but not about diesel engines. That is, I am “dumb” about them, since I don’t know anything about them. And somewhere at a construction site (as it was) - they probably thought I was stupid. So what. You see, the main thing here is to find your favorite thing. And it is advisable to be useful with it. They will appreciate and need you. You just need to stop being lazy. By the way, to some extent physical activity improves thinking. Therefore, do not disdain any kind of gymnastics. Find something to do and become a “specialist” no matter what. I think this is interesting. You will definitely be different from your sister. Ask where to get motivation? Well, now it’s the Nativity Fast - try fasting. You know, restricting yourself in food kind of sobers you up, you start to think productively. You assess your plight differently. (I know from myself). In general, the feeling of hunger motivates action. Give it a try. But if you do this, then do it as needed (according to the rules), since it is a holy thing. And also, sometimes it’s beneficial to be a “stupid” person, as you say. But this is rather a trick. And at the same time as protection. That is, sometimes it is better not to get involved in dubious “smart” things or conversations. Well, for example, someone starts talking about a “lofty”, empty topic and you realize that it’s essentially nothing, and then you say: “Oh, I don’t understand anything about this, my friend...”. You're pretending to be a fool. In general, in this way you stop and ignore idle talk. I say this from my life - anything can happen. So don’t worry. Rather, it is not a matter of intelligence, but of charm (for a woman) and abilities (for a man). I somehow think so. Yes, and there is also a saying: “Keep your mouth shut, you’ll pass for a smart person.” It works - fact. Or this: silence is gold, and only the best, sensible word is just silver.

Hello!:) From your message it is clear that you are not at all stupid, even a literate person who knows how to express his thoughts. You write much better than many on the RuNet, and this already says something. Don’t escalate the situation.:) By being nervous and calling yourself names, you only make things worse, closing the circle of discontent. Try to understand yourself, take time to sit down and think carefully about what you don’t like in your life at the moment and what needs to be done to change it. Perhaps your low academic success is due to the fact that what you studied was not interesting to you? In this case, you shouldn’t worry about it - lack of interest entails lack of motivation. The problem then is not your imaginary stupidity, but the wrong choice of specialization, which in itself can be corrected, and therefore is not tragic. When communicating with people, do not think about the fact that you have nothing to say - first, smile, be friendly, listen to those who are speaking and then, I’m sure, you will find something to say in response if they turn to you or just politely keep up the conversation. Don't give in to decadent moods! Everything will work out for you, you'll see!

Lucic, age: 23/12/01/2012

The worst thing is when they are stupid and mean.:) The main thing is not to be mean. And being stupid isn't a bad thing. Bribes from stupid people are smooth. And smile more. A smiling fool somehow looks more cheerful than an angry, sad and nervous one. Previously in Russia (in ancient, ancient times) FOOL was called the mother of the family, the keeper of the hearth. Then this word acquired a different meaning. But there is a point to this. Fools often create good families, while the “too smart” ones learn five languages, buy apartments, cars, and sit in their apartments in splendid isolation with their noses in the air and three degrees. I have a girlfriend who also doesn’t always understand what we’re talking about. But there is so much light and positivity in her, she has such a smile that everyone loves her. And “dumbness” is perceived as peculiarity and uniqueness. Last month I married a rich, mature and intelligent man. And I understand him, with her arrival his house was filled with joy and light. So be neat, clean, kind, joyful and open. Love yourself and people. And be happy. Also, watch Forrest Gump. Brilliant film. There his mother says one very significant truth: “A fool is not the one who does not understand everything, but the one who acts badly.” It sounds a little different in different voice-overs, but the essence remains the same. The film has a huge number of awards. Critics gave the film a second title - The Man Who Brings Good Luck. But the problem is not that you are stupid, but your high demands on yourself, perhaps dictated by your parents. You don’t live by your own desires and needs, but try to squeeze into someone else’s picture of the world. That’s why you don’t have the energy to create, that’s why you’re lazy - you don’t want to do what you don’t like, and you’ve long forgotten what you like. That’s why you’re nervous, because you’re trying to please someone, but it’s not all yours, it’s all alien to you. You need to look for yourself and your own, then you will feel good. And you will find yourself when a protest arises in your soul: “That’s it, I don’t want to dance to anyone’s tune.” I am an adult, capable of making decisions myself and being responsible for them. And I know what I'm doing!

Marushka, age: 29/12/02/2012

You have a “high” opinion of yourself. You write practically without errors, so you have no right to call yourself stupid =) Don't compare yourself with others. I graduated from school with a gold medal, one 4 prevented me from receiving a diploma with honors, now I am studying in graduate school... But you know, sometimes I also feel stupid and unfulfilled... I understand that there are much smarter people than me, but the awareness of this should not spoil me life. Don't associate with people who make you doubt your capabilities. Try to decide what you are interested in in life, what you are interested in doing, for example, maybe you want to learn how to do nails, go and learn, it’s something that even a stupid person can handle. Simply put, don’t beat yourself up, don’t get offended and don’t get hung up, do something, find people with common interests and then everything will be fine.

Goldy, age: 23 / 01/09/2013

I also went to college, but I can’t do more than one test. I hate myself for this, I take it out on my loved ones.

Gala, age: 26 / 01/25/2013

Hello, I have a similar situation. I say that it’s not exactly the same, but similar, because I think that everything is ten times worse for me (I’m a great sinner... in order to take revenge on an evil man, I took off the cross and turned to a black voodoo magician, I deceived God himself... and I don’t confess sins, I offended my own mother, who paid for my studies, working 20 hours a day alone, 4 years in three places and for everything and everyone, and I only graduated from 1 educational institution and not excellently). No one ever believes or trusts me, because I forget about everything within an hour due to a double head injury, and people think that I did it on purpose.

Kristina, age: 26 / 03/07/2013

Good evening! You have a very interesting site and exactly what interests me. If you, the author, graduated from a university, then you are not at all stupid, because not everyone graduates from university in our time. People are not smarter than you, perhaps they just have life experience, if they are much older than you and you will gain it over time and everything will be okay. Other people have, according to statistics, no more than an average level of development. For initial socialization in society, a person needs at least a normal family, a job, and then children, when they are ready in all respects and are completely confident in themselves. Laziness is common to all people. Maybe you need some group training or a consultation with the famous psychoanalyst Dr. Kurpatov. You will definitely do something else in life. People may need any of your help. Life in Russia forces you to be more mobile, more active, bolder, although personally I have not yet succeeded in this, since I cannot win in a verbal skirmish, except in some cases. In general, any job actually forces any person to do 50% good and 50% evil, so other people are not very significant either. For example, banks issue a loan that can help someone with treatment, additional payment for the last year of a child’s education somewhere, while putting others deeply in debt for months and years if the loan is large and with high interest.

Kristina, age: 26 / 03/07/2013

You know, I understand you, I thought I was the only one in the world...

Emi, age: 19 / 18.05.2013

By the way, you didn’t make a single mistake in the text, except for the missing letter in the word “educational” (a typo), which already speaks of your education. At a time when most scribblers on the Internet make mountains of ASHIBOK, and put 20 commas or zero commas. You are not that simple. You are smart. You have not been appreciated since you were a child. This is where it went wrong. I am sure that you, like me, want to cover everything in knowledge and interests, and therefore have nothing. Go to some events that do not require the exchange of information - exhibitions, museums. Start practicing any art. This will be your topic. Good luck.

Vladislav Kukharchuk, age: 22 / 06/05/2013

By the way, yes, you are very competent. A person who can express his thoughts so clearly and write competently is no longer stupid by default. :)

Tanya Du, age: 19/20/06/2013

Since I went through such thoughts about myself, one thing I can say is accept yourself as you are, you have no other choice. The most important thing is to sort yourself out, understand yourself, and don’t worry about what they will think of you and how others will evaluate you. How it says, “You’re not a 5-dollar bill to please everyone.”

Elena, age: 37 / 06/24/2013

hello)) you’re stupid (?), but you’re 24 years old, and I’m already 35 years old. And today I once again became convinced of my stupidity.. But I’m already old and it’s a problem to fix anything. Yes, and you’re too lazy to do anything, there are a lot of excuses... But, in my opinion, you have a talent for expressing your thoughts... Perhaps you’re not as stupid as you think, and there’s still time to become more proficient (learn) , perhaps you will become a good journalist, or you will become a successful writer.. So all is not lost.. Try.. maybe it will work..))

Anastasia, age: 35 / 09/05/2013

Yes Yes Yes. I have exactly the same problem as you. My sister is also more loved than me, because she is smarter. She has good grades. And I also thought that the problem was my self-esteem, but no. There’s nothing to talk about with people, I used to think that I just came across people who weren’t particularly talkative, I wasn’t thinking correctly. And I hate myself too. It's a total nightmare with grades. I thought I was the only one.

Musya, age: 17 / 10/08/2013

The same thing happens to me as to the author. Well, at least I'm not the only one in the world.

inna, age: 22 / 10/16/2013

Trust me, you are not stupid! I didn’t find a single mistake in your story, either grammatical or punctuation! And I understand this.

Vladimir, age: 13 / 02.11.2013

read a lot of books

Aigerim, age: 15 / 01/08/2014

I understand you, I have absolutely the same situation. I don’t agree with those who say that if a person writes without errors, then he cannot be stupid; literacy is not an indicator of intelligence, but compliance with standards. I can write on the Internet without errors, sometimes it’s even good to express my thoughts, but in life I’m so stupid that I can’t carry on a single normal conversation.

Liana, age: 18/02/15/2014

For a stupid person, you have unusually correct sentences and deep thoughts, beautifully expressed in words. you have one of two things - either depression or you are scamming us. The third option is that you're just too shy. this can be fixed. I've been working on myself all my life. Although, on the contrary, I consider myself smart, but not able to communicate.

Lada, age: 41 / 03/21/2014

Alexey, if you resign yourself, you won’t achieve anything.

Nyashka, age: 16 / 04/22/2014

It's exactly the opposite, ma'am. You don’t “don’t love yourself because you’re stupid,” but you consider yourself stupid because you don’t love yourself. There is an option that you do not love yourself because it seems to you that “no one” loves you. And maybe it’s even a specific “nobody.” Another possibility is that you haven’t found your topic. It's difficult to communicate with people you don't understand (because you're not interested in their interests). I hope everything has changed for the better in 2 years.

Sergio, age: 43 / 06/08/2014

Good afternoon. I won't try to convince you that you are smart. You may be dumber than the average person. It's not scary. I'll say something else. In my concept, there are two types of people. Smart-Stupid and Lazy-Not Lazy. So, being stupid and not lazy is much better than being smart and lazy. Stupidity is not a death sentence. It is simply a state of mind that nature gives you. And this cannot be corrected, no matter how hard you fight.

Dimitriy1861, age: 35 / 07/03/2014

Read books and be a little braver!

Stesha, age: 21/07/14/2014

You don't have to worry so much about it. You have already changed something in your concept of life. Appreciate every minute of life. Don't waste your golden time thinking about it. Value your time. After all, no one knows what might happen to us tomorrow. Have as much fun as you like. Rejoice and make your loved ones happy with this.

Hello, how is it? Are you still pretending to be stupid?

Anonymous Petrovsky, age: 22/12/27/2014

Realizing that you are stupid is the first step to wisdom

Just came to have a look, age: 18 / 03/09/2015

You need to try to do as well as possible what you have to do. This is especially true for those who “don’t strive” (they just “have to”, not “want” to do something). This is a way to become smarter at least in something. Because you don’t really want to hang around like shit in an ice hole all your life. I am such a person myself. I'm probably dumber than the dumbest people. If only because I remain at one level of development for a long time. Those who studied with grade 3 are now much more competent in some things than I am. Whatever field you take, I have superficial knowledge everywhere: politics, culture, geography, medicine, sociology. I, a biologist by training, cannot sit down, get rid of the pens, and, finally, figure out what mechanisms are responsible for the crap that is happening to me. Complete despondency (which is a sin if we touch on religion). Of course, laziness is easily explained: we actively develop until reproductive age so that we can care for our future offspring. Further development is no longer so necessary. Therefore, very often people stop developing at the age of 20. Or it becomes more difficult for them to develop. But there are people who are not lazy to train their brain. They are probably now, instead of scribbling a sad comment, sitting and calmly reading another book, understanding another area of activity. They know how to be interested. They interest themselves. But “someone” still needs to interest me. And I’m no longer a schoolgirl, I should already be able to do it myself...

Svetlana, age: 22/04/24/2015

No, you're not as stupid as I am! I don’t know anything at all and now in one year I want to learn 3 important subjects for me and go to college to become a programmer, even people close to me say where are you going, there’s nothing in your stupid head! you don't stand a chance. You graduated from the institute, but I can’t even get into it. The exam questions are quite easy, but I don’t even know the answers to such easy questions. I’m already 21 years old and I only now understood how I should have studied correctly.

Sanya, age: 21/04/25/2015

I want to tell you that you are not the only one who suffers from this! I also consider myself stupid and I’m scared, I can’t build a relationship, everything becomes clear on the first date, I always start being stupid and only then I understand where and what was wrong, when it’s too late. I closed myself off, stopped talking, because I know that again I will say the wrong thing, that people will laugh behind my back, or even in my eyes, and this hurts my soul, what will happen next is even scary to imagine, I don’t want people to take advantage of My stupidity, I don’t understand why I live at all.

Rita, age: 27/05/30/2015

To some extent, everything you say is an excuse. Yes, you don't deny that you are lazy. But maybe it's not your laziness. The fact is that you yourself do not want to achieve something. If you really wanted to, you could achieve a lot. I don't think grades are an indicator of intelligence. The education system in Russia, in my opinion, is not the most magnificent. If you don’t have topics to talk to people and you’re too lazy to develop yourself somehow, then pick up a book. Something very interesting, recognized by many. It doesn't have to be serious literature. Have you read Harry Potter? If not, then just start, you won’t be able to stop later. Find your favorite genre of literature, read more books, and you will notice that your speech has improved. If you really don’t want anything at all, then watch TV series. Only really good ones. And watch in the original voice-over with Russian subtitles. Thus, without doing practically anything, you can learn a little foreign speech. Good luck.

Askr, age: 17/06/03/2015

The main thing is to do whatever you want, whatever you like. I myself studied with straight A's, but I had low self-esteem. I transferred twice and was not liked at the new schools. You must have a goal and a dream and strive for it.

EeOneGuy, age: 19/12/11/2015

I have the same situation, I’m an introverted fool, I only write one thing correctly, I’m just not sociable...:( even though I’m only 13 years old

Nastya)), age: 13 / 01/02/2016

high five I'm dumb too) everyone calls me that)) my parents remind me every day that I'm not a person and people don't perceive me)))) but I communicate normally with everyone and when it comes to lessons and in class everyone sees that I'm dumb they turn away from me, their attitude changes)) I changed so many schools and had no friends anywhere))) I got used to it) just accept it and don’t pay attention.

Valya, age: 15 / 01/06/2016

I think that you are not so stupid, because you understand all your disadvantages and shortcomings. If we believe you that you do not have a good mind, then I can only say that just don’t worry about it, look for the positives in yourself and improve them.

Di, age: 20 / 30.01.2016

Just believe in yourself and believe that you can achieve something. Just sit on the couch and say that you can do what you can’t do, and do it. You just need to believe in yourself and everything will be the way you want.

Korovin Oleg Igorevich, age: - / 02/01/2016

So I have exactly the same problem as you, author! I constantly feel inferior! Even at school, I realized that I was not very smart! I have always been a responsible student! I almost never missed classes, I always did my homework, and still nothing stuck in my head! (((I don’t know basic things, and I envy those who can carry on a conversation on intellectual topics! And besides, when I’m nervous, my hands and head begin to shake, and my palms are constantly sweaty, I blush for no particular reason, I’m afraid to communicate with new people! All this really interferes with life! Despite the fact that I’m quite pretty in appearance, what’s the point?

Anya, age: 24 / 02/02/2016

Learn to value your life... Yourself and your family... And everything in general! Almost everyone has this problem at your age... Try to have fun. And share it with everyone!)) Good luck)))) I wish you success)!!))))))

psychologist, age: 36 / 04/26/2016

Stop whining and saying that you are stupid! You are an adult and no longer a little child. You're just special, not like everyone else. Are you offended that no one wants to trust you and blah blah? You know you have a childish character. You are easily offended. Finally, grow up and understand that how you treat yourself is how they will treat you. You will be treated the way you allow. Let's say you didn't study well. But perhaps studying was not interesting to you? Maybe you have another talent. Tell me what interests you? Maybe you have a dream? You know, my brother tells me that I'm stupid and at the same time he says that I'm smart. Why? Yes, because I make a lot of madness and mistakes - this is my stupidity. And the smart thing is that I don’t allow anyone to humiliate me. Don't ever let anyone say that either. Don't tell tales that this is your opinion. Probably someone already told you this or you made some mistake that you regret. A person learns from his mistakes. Don't look back. First of all, love yourself. Let's start life with a clean slate. If you haven't done anything worthwhile, do it. Everything starts small. Believe in yourself! If you continue like this it will end badly. It's not too late yet. You're probably lonely, that's why you write like that. Make yourself a lot of friends. And yes, if you want to do something worthwhile, start helping people, old pensioners, children from an orphanage. Not only the rich, but also the most ordinary people can help. Do good and it will be the most rewarding thing you can do.

Tina, age: 14 / 04/27/2016

Oh, how these phrases irritate me: “most of them got good grades without stress.” Do you seriously think that those classmates of yours who brought home A’s and B’s didn’t do anything for it? Did someone put knowledge into their heads by opening their skull? And at the institute, people who wrote term papers on their own, for example, did it once or twice? Nonsense. All this is hard work, almost every day. They had to work hard and use their brains, and they wouldn’t complain now. If you don’t think, don’t do something, your brain will turn sour. And nothing new will appear in them until you personally introduce this new thing there. Read, listen, watch - it’s up to you. But you will have to do this, and not wait for knowledge to come on its own, like the majority who supposedly get everything without effort.

Anastasia, age: 23/07/27/2016

I understand you very much, it’s not for nothing that I came across this topic. My situation is similar and a little strange, I was always a smart girl at school, smart, understanding and reasoning in a very unchildish way. My grammar is fine, but lately I’ve realized that I’m starting to get dumber. And the look is already kind of dumb (there’s a dull look, when there’s emptiness in the eyes, like this for me. I look in the mirror myself and understand that I’m dumb. It’s painful to realize that everything seems to be fine, inside you understand everything more or less, but you feel that you are unable to understand many things and cannot express your thoughts correctly, that even those around you consider you a stupid girl. But if you are reading this now or someone else who finds themselves in a similar situation, I have some primitive advice, you need to read a lot, communicate a lot with people, that is, talk, and monitor the conversation so that there is no water, and if not with anyone, then with yourself, if everything is so sad. You can learn sarcasm. It helps. No matter how strange it may sound. and in general forget what Instagram is and watching stupid videos and public posts on VK. They really limit thinking and contribute to degradation. And of course, sports, it really helps organize your thoughts. You can start a diary and write every day what you felt, how your day went, at least try.

As, age: 24/09/29/2016

Come on! You are too critical! A really stupid person will never ask such a question)) believe me)) and as for grades at university, this is not an indicator.

Aaa, age: 19/12/09/2016

I won’t make idiotic assumptions like: “Are you depressed?”, “Are you feeling bad? ", "You're just fooling yourself! “.I’m not a psychologist from Malibu :) And you are completely unfamiliar with me (just like I am with you). Sorry if my writing is useless, but I really want to help at least a little. Similar feelings depress me now. Right at this moment. It seems to me that your opinion of yourself within the framework of the word “stupid” has no meaning. It hurts and unpleasantly sometimes brings you to tears. Less oppression. It sounds stupid, but take a broader look. Why do the creatures who think you are stupid have the right to be called “smart people”? Even if they are right, then what is the point. Look around. You are surrounded by the same social framework and conditions as others. I think there has already been advice on drugs for mental activity. I’ll just say that even in the dumbest thoughts there is something important) “The Earth is round” used to be a dumb thought too. We all have different frames. The main thing you must understand for yourself.

Kanra, age: 100 / 01/08/2017

If you understand that you are stupid, then you are not so stupid anymore.

Someone, age: 21 / 02/17/2017

A girl makes only one decision in life - chooses her man! And then he decides everything! The main thing is to smile and be beautiful! And let your man decide the rest. A girl should remain a girl! Weak and defenseless, gentle and caring. Grades don't decide anything in life!!! In modern life, those who were nerds at school work for poor students!!! Be yourself, and don't adapt to someone else, just to please someone! Everything will work out for you!

Skill Development

What if I'm stupid? You must definitely try to improve your abilities. You can’t just stand still and not make any attempts to change yourself.

Developing communication skills contributes to overall productivity. Then any task will be within your reach and will bring moral satisfaction.

It is necessary to strive for a feeling of joy and spiritual fulfillment. The more we work on ourselves, the more prepared we become.

Thus, it is never too late to try to change something in your life. If a person feels quite insecure around other people due to lack of knowledge, this means that he needs to expand his inner vision. There is no need to dwell on the problem. You should always remember that there is a way out of any situation.

Specific tasks

Let’s say that we have already had the opportunity to get an education, and we are mentally prepared for upper intermediate. Our motivation for intellectual self-development is most likely based not only on the fact that we are consumed by our own intellectual lack of formality. After all, you can’t force yourself to want to become a (biologist/physicist/economic guru). Therefore, climbing the mountain of education for us most likely means reaching a new level of mastery of knowledge, the discovery of a plateau with a broader picture of the world.

Such an abstract goal is good to keep in mind, but few will be motivated by it to watch lectures on quantum physics on this beautiful June day, and the next, and the next. That is why it is better to attach abstract goals to specific tasks.

For example, like in the Finnish school Ressu. Its creators removed all classical subjects from the program and concentrated on phenomenon-based learning - the study of phenomena. That is, not dry facts, but connections between them.

Ressu students, based on their interests, needs and curiosity, choose the topics to study.

Here, eighth-graders study biology, ethics and law, considering the issue of abortion, and fifth-graders are taught geography, sociology, history and economics using the example of migration.

While traditionalists are horrified, the original Finnish schools are consistently at the top of the PISA (International Student Assessment Program, something like the Oscars of the education world).

You can begin your mastery of intellectual peaks by studying the instructions for applying to yourself: for example, sitting down to study on neurobiology and the psychology of motivation and habit formation in order to introduce theoretical knowledge into your daily practice.

If you like wandering through contemporary art exhibitions, but you don’t understand a damn thing, concentrate on this pain - after the fact, understand the context of each of the exhibitions, gradually mastering the sophisticated language of Sovriska through references. Or read "iPhuck 10".

This way you will reorient from the abstract “I want to be smart” to the more specific “I want to understand and apply.”
