Work is not a wolf, part 1. Job search: 9 circles of HR-a

Searching for a job causes unpleasant, anxious and gambling sensations both for yesterday’s student and for a professional with years of experience behind him. This is not a sign of lack of self-confidence, this is a problem of the entire personnel search industry: we go for an interview and understand that not everything can depend on professionalism, that someone will not like our soft skills or appearance, someone will run into the question of reasons for leaving your previous position. On Habré there may be 200 articles-appeals to the HR services of IT companies, where the applicants themselves will foam at the mouth and tell you how to talk to them (us!), how to evaluate, but at the first meeting with the future employer they will still slip you psychological test, they will ask strange questions and look at you as if you have already violated something and are going to the company to destroy the foundations and corporate culture. That's why we won't tell companies what they're doing wrong - we'll tell you how to live with it.

This is the first part of our new series “Work is not a wolf”, which will consist of five parts, each of which reveals the most important aspects related to employment. As with the education series, articles will be subjective, honest and based on extensive expertise. Here's what awaits you:

Part 1. Job search: sources, resume, interview with HR

Part 2. Set-up and adaptation: interviewing the boss, going through the probationary period with a breeze Part 3. Working as a newbie: growth in the company Part 4. Working as an experienced employee: how not to burn out Part 5. Dismissal: I’m leaving gracefully We are waiting for your stories in the comments - let as many Habr readers as possible be able to look for work without fear, find success and work with confidence.

Tips and tricks from professionals

The advice or recommendations that we will consider a little further are not the product of the work of psychologists or recruitment agents. Rather, it is a set of rules formed based on the experience of ordinary people, which they share on forums and websites:

  • If, when analyzing vacancies, you react only to high earnings, you can not only fall into the clutches of scammers, but also choose the wrong type of activity, which over time will become torment and lead to additional complexes associated with dismissal.
  • Each proposed position is considered carefully and meticulously, considering what path of development the work can bring. Does the vacancy have a future or is it just a place where personnel are constantly changing due to its lack of demand.
  • The job search cannot be stopped on weekends and holidays. It is on these days that employers scan the mail themselves, eliminating intermediaries. Therefore, the likelihood that your resume will be rejected due to the secretary’s bad mood is much lower.
  • Work is a significant part of human life. By choosing an unacceptable profession, even if it is at least three times highly paid, you are dooming yourself and your loved ones to torment. The lack of opportunity to realize one’s own potential at work negatively affects aspects of one’s personal life and entails a number of negative consequences.
  • One resume is a common job seeker mistake. Adapt the text for each vacancy, remove unnecessary things, add useful ones. This approach will give results much faster, since when reading the document, the employer immediately sees a careful and competent approach to employment.
  • The results of an active search are higher than posting your resume on several large sites. Analyze vacancies yourself and write or call. Don’t ignore social networks, you can also write about yourself and your desired position there.
  • It is strictly forbidden to exaggerate possibilities in conversation or writing. Firstly, this is felt in the conversation, and secondly, the test task will reveal a lie and you will be ashamed.
  • Communicating on social networks can harm your job search. Analyze the posts, see which images are marked as liked, and see if there are any jokes about the laziness and insanity of the boss. About dreams of finishing the work week and the revival of the soul in the body of a cat. The employer will definitely notice these little things and the chances of success will go down, regardless of your track record.
  • Be careful in appearance, punctual and extremely polite during the interview, as well as on the stairs when going up for the interview, because you don’t know who is standing next to you, maybe it’s the director who came out to see the previous candidate off.
  • When talking on the phone or in person, speak beautifully, exclude filler words, and especially profanity. Do not allow inaccuracies and delays in speech, do not “moo” if you are thinking. If necessary, ask for a moment to think. Do not appropriate the merits of others; the employer can contact the previous place of work and clarify the specifics of the activity.
  • If your resume does not receive a response, and this happens often, you should call the company and check whether the letter was received and find out the reason for the refusal. So, by collecting reviews from real employers, you will be able to collect a picture of errors in your resume and correct it.

Building a Vision

This stage is akin to a navigator in a car: you get behind the wheel, give the address, and the map builds several routes. You can get there faster, you can choose a longer route, or you can understand that you won’t go there at all because it’s too long or far away. It's the same with work - to build a vision, you need to ask yourself a few questions that will help create a filter through which you look at jobs and new opportunities:

  • Where do I want to be in a year?
  • How do I want to feel when I get up in the morning for this job?
  • what do I want to do (industry, function, country)?
  • who should work next to me (colleagues)?
  • what is my total income per year?
  • Is employer branding important to me?
  • what kind of company is it in terms of caliber - small or large, with one office or a network of 100 offices, Russian or international, private or public?
  • How do I want recognition to be expressed for me - in the form of an annual bonus or in the form of involvement in various committees, boards and shareholder meetings, mentions/ratings in specialized and business media, professional nominations and awards?
  • How many subordinates do I have - or do I want to work independently?
  • What kind of work schedule and hours do I want, office location and workplace?

The answers can be given in any form, but it is important to use them to create a list of companies that fit your vision.

Having built the technical specifications for the “dream job”, you can understand that in fact these companies are not suitable for everyone, and for some it is not at all necessary to work in an organization with a big name

In fact, the formulation of 10 similar points is a kind of technical specification to oneself on the topic “what should my dream job look like?” or, more down to earth, “what is a worthwhile job for me?” By the way, it is useful to consider these points in addition to your current place of work, if you have one. It is likely that you can implement them without changing the company, leaders and field of activity. Sometimes it's a matter of form rather than content.

Also, applicants, without having done such an analysis of preferences, often want to work for Gazprom or Sberbank, Yandex or Google - simply guided by personal beliefs and marketing stereotypes. However, having built the technical specifications for the “dream job”, you can understand that in fact these companies are not suitable for everyone, and for some it is not at all necessary to work in an organization with a big name.

Wage

As you know, there is no such thing as extra money. But it is imprudent to put this factor at the forefront when searching for a job. The salary may be high, but the situation in the team or difficult relationships with management can lead to a nervous breakdown, so much so that you won’t even need money just to be left alone.

So what other factors play a significant role for job seekers?

  • Convenient work schedule;
  • Proximity of the place of work to home;
  • A team that welcomes newcomers in a friendly manner;
  • Loyal management;
  • Level of individual responsibility;
  • Possibility of business trips or traveling.

The above list is far from complete; the enumeration can be done endlessly. The main thing is to understand what is important and necessary for you, and only then start looking for what you love.

How to look for work in Moscow

Finding a job in Moscow is certainly not an easy task, especially during an economic downturn. You can only count on official vacancies if you have Moscow registration. Informal employment is a common but risky option. If there is no employment contract, you are at the complete mercy of the employer.

Moving and finding a place in the capital is a challenge for energetic and ambitious people. If you have the ability, knowledge, skills and suitable education, you can find many options for self-realization in the capital.

Be prepared in advance for a change in the rhythm of life, different prices and different salary levels. If you plan to live in a rented apartment, calculate your income level in advance to cover the cost of rent and still eat well.

At the end of the article, watch a short educational video on job search:

Update your resume

Updating your resume does not mean “adding another line to your track record.” It's important to do it right. There are several points that distinguish a modern high-quality CV from the usual list of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse - stress resistance, communication skills, punctuality and determination. To tell the truth, resumes with these words are increasingly being put aside by HR specialists.

A clear list of where you work with key indicators will say much more about you. It should indicate:

  • name of the company and its brief description: field of activity, number of employees, turnover;
  • job title that makes it clear what you did;
  • your place in the structure (to whom you reported and who was subordinate to you);
  • what product and processes were you responsible for;
  • your responsibilities (5 main, most significant);
  • your achievements with specific results of your work in numbers.

Unfortunately, we are still quite far from the European and American standards of “blind” resumes, in which only work experience is indicated and the candidate’s personality is not visible. Russian employers still care about personal information about you: full name, contacts, recent photo and even age, marital status and date of birth.

Also, don’t forget to add information about your education (including training and continuing education courses) and key skills (and these are not personal qualities like “the soul of the team”, but the functions in which you are good as a professional).

The resume should be a maximum of two pages in PDF format so that it can be conveniently opened from any device.

Material on the topic

Reason 2: lack of activity, fear, embarrassment

How many times today have you called based on the advertisements you found? How many job applications have you sent with your resume? And in a week? How many ads were viewed?

Often a person cannot find a job because he simply doesn’t look enough. Spending 1-2 days, viewing 10-20 ads and making 5-6 calls is often not enough. It often happens that searches can take a week, two, or even more.

What to do?

Make finding a job your main goal and spend as much time as possible on it. You also need to be sure to call as many options as possible.

Personnel comment:

The determination of all applicants is different. Here is an example from a recruitment agency. The candidate was suitable for the vacancy. Not that he was an ideal candidate, but quite normal. He was asked to wait for the decision of the person in charge, who was on a business trip (or simply very busy, it doesn’t matter). The interview took place on Wednesday, and the manager’s response could only be received on Monday. The applicant said that all this week he has been going through 5 interviews a day and on Friday evening he makes a decision about employment - that’s his plan, and nothing will disrupt it. Of course, on Monday morning he was already employed and lost for the employer company.

How to find remote work on the Internet

Working on the Internet is an excellent option for those who do not want to work according to a schedule and “for someone else.” Today you can find work on the Internet in all humanities and technical specialties. Linguists, philologists, teachers, designers, lawyers, medical workers, and programmers are in demand. We have already talked in detail about ways to work on the Internet in one of the previous articles.

To receive income, you only need constant access to the Internet, a bank account or an electronic wallet. Plus the desire to learn and develop. You can find remote work on the World Wide Web on special sites like FL.ru and Workzilla.

Internet business is a relatively new direction that is becoming more and more relevant. You can open your own business on the Internet (an online store, a legal portal, a school), or you can simply do what you like remotely.

If you are a journalist or philologist, write texts to fill network resources with content. If you are a university teacher, prepare applicants via Skype or help with theses. Any talent can find an application: your skills and abilities can be converted into monetary equivalent.

Working on the Internet has many advantages:

  1. You can work without special education. You can gain specialized knowledge here, for example, by studying topical articles, educational e-courses and videos on Youtube.
  2. The amount of income is not limited to salary. You set your own bar.
  3. The ability to manage your time. When working remotely, you set your own working hours, choose your days off and control the length of your vacation.
  4. Lots of opportunities for personal growth. Being your own boss, you can carry out the most daring and risky projects.

Of course, you need to grow to a stable level of income - not all at once. And with experience, you will definitely understand how to act more effectively and competently. You can start right away by opening your own website and promoting it. We have already told you how to create your own website here.

With an initial investment in marketing and optimization, within a year you can turn your project into a profitable business that brings in a stable income.

Where to quickly find a job or part-time job

There are quick ways to find a job for students and people without experience. In this section, we have collected practical tips that will help those who need quick money but do not have professional skills find temporary employment.

For a student with no experience

There are thousands of offers on the Internet for graduates and university students. You shouldn’t be particularly happy about the number of offers: not all vacancies promise truly stable income. Students are usually offered low-paid and labor-intensive activities:

  • promoter;
  • courier;
  • waiter;
  • Sales Manager;
  • animator;
  • security guard (watchman).

Some types of work involve exclusively seasonal employment, which is ideal for students during the summer holidays. With the advent of the World Wide Web, job searches have become much easier and more effective. Now it has become easier for a student without work experience to find a vacant position. We have already written about how to make money as a student; this article also discusses options for making money via the Internet for young people.

Few people continue to use printed publications (although it is too early to discount newspapers and magazines dedicated to vacancies): just go to the resource and get acquainted with the offers that are already sorted into categories and sections. You can even create a detailed resume and post it on job search portals, perhaps employers will choose your candidacy themselves.

Without education

Work without education involves approximately the same vacancies as in the case of student part-time work - couriers, security guards, waiters, loaders, workers in supermarket sales areas. Don’t count on employers being particularly generous and don’t rush to respond to the first offer that comes your way.

First, study all the vacancies that you like, make a list of offers that interest you, arranging them in order of personal attractiveness.

Weigh all the pros and cons and don’t be afraid to say “no” to the employer if the vacancy for some reason no longer interests you (far from home, night shifts and other nuances). Don't be afraid if you are offered pre-training. This way you will gain experience and skills that may be useful in the future.

Even after getting a job as an intern, you can be persistent and quickly get a more lucrative position in the same company. We have already published an article on our website about options for obtaining additional income from a side hustle, we recommend that you read it.

In a crisis

The difficult economic situation is making adjustments to our lives. Above we have already provided statistics on unemployment and layoffs in certain areas. At the moment, there is a clear imbalance of supply and demand in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and other cities of the Russian Federation.

How to find a job during a crisis? There is only one option - to be active in searching for vacancies: post your resume not on one Headhanter site, but on at least 3-5 portals. Employers' budgets for searching for workers are also limited, and searches through recruitment agencies are mostly paid for by employers.

Effective ways to find a job - TOP 7 popular options

Here we provide effective ways to find a job. With their help you can cover the maximum number of vacancies and offers.

1) Personal contacts: relatives, friends, social networks

Statistics show: 40% of employees get hired in small companies through acquaintances through friends, relatives or through social networks. Simply by posting a job search message in your status on Facebook or VKontakte, you will significantly increase your chances of finding a job through close or distant acquaintances.

Notify your surroundings that you are looking for a vacant position and word of mouth will become your assistant in this matter.

2) Professional communities

Professional communities are both a new and well-known phenomenon to humanity. This is the name given to a group of people who are engaged in a certain field of activity and regularly exchange experiences and contacts with each other, and jointly develop the most effective methods for solving professional problems.

Often, representatives of such communities also exchange information about vacancies, vacant positions and other information useful for a person looking for a job.

3) Newspapers free advertisements

Printed publications are already somewhat outdated, but still a valid way of finding a job. The main category of people who use free classified newspapers are older people, conservative people who do not trust modern technologies. Some companies that publish job listings in newspapers duplicate them on Internet sites.

4) Online job search sites

The most relevant method today. There are dozens of sites on the Internet that daily update lists of hundreds of vacancies in all possible areas of work activity. Proper use of online portals will allow you to find a job quickly and for free.

The most popular job sites:

  • Job.ru is a popular portal for job seekers and employers. The site’s very simple interface will allow you to easily post your resume and just wait for employers to call you. Registration and writing a resume on the site will take no more than 20 minutes.
  • Headhunter (hh.ru) - this convenient, functional and up-to-date site operates in every city, has hundreds of thousands of vacancies listed (depending, of course, on the population) and several million resumes from applicants from all over Russia;
  • Indeed (ru.indeed.com) is an equally popular portal designed for an audience of job seekers of all ages and specialties. Its convenience is that it collects data on a given vacancy from various Internet portals. The developers have also made a convenient mobile application.
  • Avito (avito.ru) is an all-Russian site of free advertisements, where, among others, there are sections for searching for work in the city of your residence: “vacancies” and “service offers”;
  • "Yandex Work" (rabota.yandex.ru). A special job search service from Yandex, the most popular search engine in RuNet.
  • Rabota.ru is a well-known specialized site.

These are just the most popular sites; there are many of them you can find on the Internet. It's also worth paying attention to your local city portals. Very often they also publish advertisements from local employers.

It is better to view vacancies starting on Monday, tracking new offers every morning. Possible “disadvantages” of this method include a large number of applicants per offer.

5) Monitoring of vacancies on company websites and targeted distribution of resumes

If you are a specialist in any profession or dream of working in a specific company, make your search more targeted: you can monitor vacancies on the resources of companies that interest you and send your own resume to their HR departments.

A completely reliable and productive method of finding a job, especially if you have something to interest the employer. Competition between employers in market conditions is very high: they also try not to lose valuable employees.

6) Recruitment agencies

Recruitment agencies work through recruiters: you leave them your resume, they search for an employer. Be careful - not all recruitment agencies are “clean” - among them there are often scammers or simply companies that do not perform their work at the proper level.

7) Own website

Another modern and relevant method of job search. True, your own website will help if you have something to offer the employer - your high qualifications, confirmed by examples of completed work (portfolio), your abilities for a certain activity.

Having your own website is especially useful in finding remote work as a designer, copywriter, marketing and advertising specialist.

Real example

One of our good friends was looking for a position as a full-time illustrator or designer in a printing house or advertising agency for a long time. Specifically, she was not satisfied with the salaries and the requirement of full-time work according to a rigid work schedule.

In the end, she first made herself a page on LiveJournal with examples of her own work, and then her own website, on which she posted her portfolio. Gradually, she began to have people who wanted to order one-time works, and then regular customers.

Now she works at home, sets her own work schedule and does not depend on her superiors. This form of employment is called freelancing.

How to look for a job correctly - 7 practical tips for finding a job

The right approach to finding a job is half or even most of the success.

It is not so important whether you have experience and knowledge, whether you have graduated from a university or only 9 years of school, the main factor is: self-confidence, awareness, desire to develop and improve. Our tips will also help you find a good job - read them carefully and be sure to put them into practice.

Tip 1. Be persistent and methodical - do you want to SEARCH for a job or FIND one?

Perseverance, methodicality, a systematic approach and theoretical preparation are the leading factors of success. Decide what you really want - to look for a job or find one?

There is a category of people who, when looking for a job, gradually forget about their main goal and spend months and even years searching for a place that supposedly suits them perfectly in all respects.

“I’m looking for a job” is a good psychological shield against claims from family members and relatives. Do not forget that you need to look for a job only in order to find one, improve your quality of life and change your financial status.

Important: job search is also a kind of work! You should approach this as seriously and responsibly as you would any other job. Once you have compiled your resume, do not forget to update it and post it on several sites. Send it to all employers who are at least theoretically interested in you. It doesn’t matter if you seem pushy—companies, as a rule, value persistent and energetic employees.

A good example

One of our acquaintances named Victor has been looking for a job for about a year and a half, but has not yet found a place.

Searching for vacancies became his kind of daily ritual. He regularly looked at job search sites, wrote down phone numbers and details of companies, and often called potential employers. Sometimes I even went to interviews.

Even if he was quite satisfied with the salary and other factors, he still found some point where the job was not suitable for him.

The boss is a woman, the office is in a non-prestigious area, there is no water cooler in the workplace. In other words, Victor simply did not want to get a job, but wanted to look for one and create the appearance of activity.

With this approach, the chances of improving your life are certainly minimal.

Tip 2. What is better to choose – a highly paid job or a job you like?

The ideal, of course, is to have a well-paid job that you enjoy. But in practice, a highly profitable place is not always to your liking.

The question raised in the title of this paragraph is decided by everyone individually.

Psychologists insist that it is better to do what you like, even if this business does not immediately bring high income.

  • Firstly , any job involves the development of professional skills. Perhaps the salary is not too high at the moment, but by increasing your qualifications and level, you can always count on an increase in income.
  • Secondly , going to a job that you don’t like, like going to hard labor, experiencing negative emotions, is harmful to your health.

The immune system directly depends on our psycho-emotional state: it has been proven that people who do things they don’t like and perceive work as a “necessary evil” are more likely to develop infectious and chronic diseases.

A person spends a significant part of his life at work. Do you want to be constantly depressed, complain about life, sleep poorly and count the minutes until the end of the working day? We are sure not.

So, make a choice in favor of the vacancy that you personally like, and not your husband (wife, mother-in-law, dad, mom).

Tip 3. Use as many different job search options as possible

Diversify your search as much as possible. The more job search methods you use, the higher your likelihood of success. In the next section of the article we will look at them more carefully, identifying the advantages (and possible disadvantages) of each of them.

Tip 4: Write an effective resume

There are certain rules for writing a resume that you should follow if you want to impress the employer as a prepared, motivated and serious person. A resume is the first thing an employer bases his conclusions on when considering a specific candidate for an applicant.

The summary should be:

  • Concise and containing only relevant and important information. The employer usually does not have time to read your extensive and detailed essays, so the information should be posted as concisely, effectively, and correctly as possible. You should not describe your life path in the “about yourself” column, starting from kindergarten. It should contain information that is useful to the employer, emphasizing your professional merits or demonstrating your ability to work in a team.
  • Written without errors or logical inconsistencies. Even if you are hired as a turner at a factory, you must show yourself to be a competent and responsible person: fortunately, nowadays it is not difficult to check a text for errors. The ability to present information in a logical and structured manner is a quality that is valued in any position.
  • Well designed. Each column in this document is assigned a specific place. If you write about your professional and personal qualities in one section or are careless in the design of your resume, HR specialists are unlikely to bombard you with invitations for an interview.

Work on your resume for several hours, approaching the matter seriously and thoroughly: after that, you can safely send it to online agencies, specific companies, personnel services or job exchanges. We already have a popular article on our website about how to write a resume correctly.

The resume must include: personal and contact information, wishes for future work, experience, professional skills, education, existing awards and professional diplomas.

You can also create your resume using the Simpledoc online service. The service is very simple and easy to use. You can immediately send your resume to the employer or print it.

Tip 5. Prepare for the interview

Of course, your professionalism and knowledge provide 80% of success, but what also matters is the impression you make on the employer's representative during the interview.

All 100% of the ingredients for success are important, so we have selected 19 rules for applicant behavior during an interview:

  1. Complete the first stage successfully – the telephone interview. Speak confidently, firmly, clearly. Already here you must interest your interlocutor and declare the seriousness of your intentions.
  2. Pass a successful written interview - fill out the questionnaire correctly, take your time, but also don’t think about each point for too long.
  3. The initial impression of a person is formed in the first 10 seconds; it will be difficult to influence it later. Therefore, do everything to ensure that the first moments of the conversation are as beneficial as possible for your image.
  4. Don't forget to say hello and smile during the conversation. You can tell your interlocutor that you are glad to meet you in person. Call your interlocutor by name.
  5. If you are offered coffee during an interview, do not refuse. This drink invigorates and increases brain activity.
  6. Clearly imagine the goal - visualize it. This is how champions become.
  7. Prepare for the interview in advance - find out everything about the company, go to its website. A candidate who doesn't care where to work may seem uninteresting.
  8. If you feel that you are too nervous, you can drink Novopassit: this harmless medicine eliminates worries, relaxes, and gives confidence.
  9. Learn from every experience. Even if a particular interview did not result in hiring, analyze it. If appropriate and possible, ask the employer for feedback.
  10. Read the most current and up-to-date book about your profession.
  11. Turn off your phone before your interview.
  12. Take care of fresh breath, clean body and clothes.
  13. Wear your best watch - it will raise your status.
  14. Don't forget to have breakfast (or lunch) before your interview. It feels worse on an empty stomach, and if it's been a while since you've eaten, it can affect your glucose levels and cause headaches and stress.
  15. NLP experts advise adapting to the pace of your interlocutor’s speech, adopting a similar posture, and using his linguistic constructs.
  16. Find out in advance about the company dress code (if there is one).
  17. Make a list of your achievements and in conversation (if appropriate) mention them.
  18. Go to the hairdresser. Men tend to overestimate their appearance.
  19. Don't forget to go to the toilet. It's a cliché, but a full bladder can cause haste, incorrect answers, and unnecessary stress.

Be prepared for a stressful interview. To do this, it is worth studying the company’s operating methods and reading information on this topic on the Internet. Sometimes recruiters ask seemingly completely irrelevant questions in order to assess the stress tolerance of the interlocutor and his ability to work under pressure.

Even such “crazy” questions are possible:

  • “How would you solve your life problems if you lived on Mars?”
  • “How much does the plane weigh?”
  • “What is an unusual way to break a watch?” And so on.

The interlocutor does not expect precise answers from you: he needs to demonstrate your ability to improvise and creative thinking.

Our article on how to pass a job interview will help you pass an interview successfully.

Tip 6. Beware of scammers

The scammers, in this case, are companies that either want you to work for free or are hoping to get your money. Online fraud is especially common. It is not easy to distinguish honest employers from scammers: scammers know how to inspire trust and make an impression.

The truest rule

If someone wants you to transfer a certain amount of money to a certain account (down payment, loyalty check, payment for textbooks or materials), you are most likely being scammed.

Tip 7. Prayer for work is your additional helper

A prayer-appeal to the Orthodox Saint Spyridon of Trimifunt helps believers find a good job.

This saint and miracle worker, who lived at the beginning of our era, helps those in need gain confidence, independence, and find their life’s work.

They pray to Saint Spyridon during troubles in life, financial difficulties, and lack of work.

Text of prayer for work ().

Contact with a potential employer

You can contact the company directly or ask mutual friends to recommend you. However, simply “sending your resume” is not the best option. Here it is especially important to formulate a value proposition: how exactly you will be useful in this workplace. Even if all positions in the company are occupied, you need to take into account that there are no situations in any team where the manager is satisfied with all his subordinates - and you can become the right candidate to strengthen the work of the department or the entire organization thanks to your experience, skills and skills. If everything goes well, the result of this stage is an invitation to a meeting.

Advertising on Forbes

Receiving an offer

As a candidate, you can warn a potential manager that you have some time limits for making a decision (for example, if you have already been sent an offer from another organization and you urgently need to choose one place out of two). However, you need to be prepared for the fact that companies take quite a long time to prepare an official job offer.

Advertising on Forbes

But after receiving an offer, a response must be given, as a rule, within two weeks. Often the official proposal even contains the wording “We are waiting for your decision until January xx, 2022.” After this date we will consider this document invalid. We hope that our cooperation will be fruitful and long-term.” However, practice shows that this is quite a comfortable period to make a final decision about working in the company.
