The boomerang law in life: how does the idea of justice affect everyday existence?

There are certain phenomena in life, the mechanism of action of which is quite difficult to explain, and sometimes even impossible. You cannot escape or escape from these phenomena, no matter how much you would like to. They are the most real inevitability that representatives of the human race have to put up with. They represent a kind of contract offer with the Universe, to which, willy-nilly, every person born on Earth joins.

One of these phenomena is the boomerang law. People learned about the existence of this fundamental law even before our era. In the Bible you can read that a person will reap what he sows, and everyone will be rewarded according to his deserts.

The centuries-old wisdom of different peoples repeats this! It’s not for nothing that our ancestors argued that there is no need to dig a hole for another person, since you can fall into it yourself. And you shouldn’t spit in the well, because no one knows when exactly the need will arise to drink water from this well.

It always responds the way it sounds. And it doesn’t matter whether it resonated at the conscious or unconscious levels. The motivation doesn’t matter at all: whether it was because of envy, jealousy, anger, stupidity or compassion. Everything comes back sooner or later!

What is the boomerang law? What is the essence of this phenomenon? How does the boomerang law work in our lives? What is the boomerang law from a psychological and religious point of view? How to launch a boomerang of good? Today we will discuss the boomerang law and try to understand why the idea of justice is an integral part of human society!

What is the boomerang law

The law or boomerang effect involves the return of all actions you have ever committed back. It acts the same as a regular boomerang. In the past it was used as a weapon. After the throw, he made a circle and returned back to the hunter. In some cases, he even wounded or injured him. This happens in life too.

The boomerang law was successfully used in ancient times. Only the name was different. It is spoken about in the Bible. Remember the call to treat people the way you want them to treat you.

The boomerang effect in life is well reflected in folk art. You are probably familiar with these expressions:

  1. What goes around comes around.
  2. As it comes back, so will it respond.
  3. What is hello is the answer.
  4. Don't dig a hole for someone else, you will fall into it yourself.

There are also many quotes about the boomerang law, interesting aphorisms:

  1. “The boomerang effect: how you look at life is how it will answer you” - Harry Simanovich.
  2. “Before reaping the fruits of justice, you need to throw its seeds into the soil of your actions” - Igor Subbotin.

Here we can recall the famous words of Omar Khayyam:

“Don’t do evil - it will come back like a boomerang, Don’t spit in the well - you will drink the water, Don’t insult someone of lower rank, What if you have to ask for something. Don’t betray your friends, you won’t replace them, And don’t lose your loved ones, you won’t get them back, Don’t lie to yourself, you’ll find out over time, That you’re betraying yourself with this lie.”

It turns out that you need to seriously think about your actions. Regret for them may come in old age, and maybe even now. It depends on the speed at which the boomerang returns.

What do religions say about this?

While many may not have heard of the boomerang law, almost everyone probably knows about its close “relative” - karma. I wrote in more detail about whether karma exists and what it is in a separate article. Here I will only focus on the main points.

The concept of karma is central to Buddhism and other Indian religious and philosophical teachings. It means a cause-and-effect relationship between a person’s thoughts, words, and actions and his future life. In addition, adherents of this religion believe in reincarnation. In other words, karma can overtake a person not only in this life, but also in the next.

Christianity also has its own concept of a boomerang: a person who has lived in sin receives reward in the form of a “ticket” to Hell, and someone who has done good, endured and prayed all his life ends up in the Gardens of Eden.

How the boomerang law works

There is a statement that thoughts are material. But people do not want to see the connection between thoughts and events around them. But in vain, since the boomerang law works precisely according to this principle. A person will receive from life what he gives to it. If it was anger, aggression, then you can expect the same in return. In the case of good, it returns in an increased amount.

If it's so simple, why do so many good people live unhappy lives, you ask? Quite a logical question. The answer lies in the motives. Deeds must be selfless. Then they will return to the person back. It turns out that if he does a good deed insincerely, experiences hostility or other negative emotions towards the person, they will come instead of goodness. Here too, everything depends on thoughts. In social psychology, this phenomenon is called positive or negative thinking.

Generally speaking, the essence of the boomerang law looks like this: you get back what you put out into the world. There is no way to bypass or ignore this rule.

Interestingly, the boomerang effect in most cases does not concern material values. Although we are talking about them too. By giving positive energy and good emotions, you get them back. Circumstances will turn out the way you needed. Or you can solve a problem that has been bothering you for a long time. According to successful people, success is a consequence of the fact that they once helped those who desperately needed it. And the help was not about money. It was knowledge or life experience.

The same thing happens with negativity. If you are shown aggression, offended, or shouted at, do not rush to blame the person or the environment. Think about whether you have behaved in a similar way? Maybe failures and illnesses are just a response from the Universe to your behavior in the past?

Now everything has changed and will there be retribution for sins?

But now everything has changed. We have changed the dimension. Now we are already in the fourth dimension and, if you believe quantum physicists, and there is no reason not to believe them, because they are always several steps ahead, we are steadily moving towards moving into the fifth dimension - the space of Love.

What has changed in connection with the issue at hand? Space is steadily shrinking. According to Hinduism, now this very “breath of Brahma” is happening, when we are getting closer to the Source that loves us and everything that exists.

Along with Space, changes occur in time. Everything here is too complicated and not particularly relevant to our topic today. Therefore I will not go deeper. I will only say that cause and effect, thought, action and the development of events with the ending that they gave rise to are now much closer to each other.

Moreover, they now bear the newly created name “direct karma”, that is, they are delayed from each other by a minimum temporary distance.

Why do people doubt the boomerang law?

There are many reasons. What hinders you from believing in “return”:

  • inadequate perception of oneself as an individual, inflated self-esteem;
  • excessive self-confidence;
  • blind faith that nothing bad will happen to a person;
  • unreasonable optimism;
  • ambition;
  • cowardice;
  • naivety;
  • anger;
  • arrogance;
  • vengeful nature;
  • infantilism.

A person with such character traits behaves ugly towards others. He considers himself better than others. Childishly confident that bad things will pass by. Moreover, he thinks that he is fate's favorite. And she is tolerant of wrongdoing. At first, this may be the case. But one day a person will face problems. Moreover, they will arise immediately in all spheres of life.

How to use the boomerang effect to your advantage

Isn't the answer to this question obvious? If you send good into the world, good will return. The law works a little differently. You need to do good deeds selflessly. Only in this case you will receive a pleasant bonus.

Think about your life. You may feel like she has turned her back on you. Why did this happen? A thorough analysis of the events happening to you will help you understand this. Analyze motives, emotions, motivations. As a result, you will see a simple pattern: the more goodness in your actions, the more generous the return to the Universe.

If you are haunted by failures, think why? For example, you do not feel affection and warmth in relationships. Most likely, you behaved the same way towards your partner. Or you have financial problems. Maybe you once appropriated someone else's property? The answers to these and similar questions will help you figure out where and what you did wrong.

Speaking about the boomerang law, psychologists give effective advice: behave with people the way you want them to behave with you. Give them what you want to get from life. Set a goal to do at least one good deed a day. Only in this case will only good things come back to you.

How the law works

I hope you understand that everything good that a person sends into the world around him returns to him as good. Conversely, the evil committed will return in the form of failures or negative events in life.

This effect will not always appear with mirror accuracy. After all, this is not mathematics. Retribution may come in a few months or even years. And the form of return itself can be completely different. For example, if a person stole several ballpoint pens at work, then it is not a fact that these pens will be stolen from him in the future, but he will accidentally lose his ticket and miss the train.

In addition, you shouldn’t think that you can get rich quick by feeding all the stray cats and dogs you meet and taking someone else’s grandmother across a busy road several times. It doesn't work like that. Good deeds must be done from the heart and selflessly. After all, this will not be retribution, but some kind of barter, when you do something to get a benefit.

The boomerang rule itself applies not only to material values, but also to intangible ones: emotions, development or experience. If you somehow helped a person with good advice or deed, then after a while complete strangers can help solve an issue that is important to you or give valuable advice.

Also with negative aspects. If your boss snapped at you, or the conductor swore at you, or you were given the wrong change in a store, do not rush to blame these people, but think about whether you have committed the same actions towards other people.

How to protect yourself from a boomerang

If you don't want to experience the boomerang law for yourself, follow the recommendations below:

  1. Don’t spread gossip, don’t criticize, don’t judge people’s actions. You have no information about why they did this. You don’t know what circumstances prompted them to do it this way and not otherwise.
  2. Don’t wish bad things on people, even in your thoughts. You yourself will suffer from this. This also applies to cases where a person has offended you. Don't worry, his actions and negative energy will still come back to him. And your wishes, even if partially, will come to you.
  3. Don't hurt others. If someone cries because of you, sooner or later you will also face a similar situation.
  4. Don't be jealous. It’s better to direct your strength and energy to your own development. Envy will prevent you from achieving success.

If your emotions are running high and you feel like you are about to explode, say “Stop.” Breathe deeply 3 times. Try to understand what and why you are feeling now. Such thoughts will help you calm down and reduce the intensity of passions. Do this when you want to wish something bad to your interlocutor, maybe even the offender, or to take revenge on him. This is the only way you can build a constructive dialogue and solve the problem that has arisen between you. Don't forget: the boomerang law always applies.

How did demons appear?

What happened next, most likely, was the quintessence of gratitude and Love. It sounded (or somehow it was indicated throughout all the varieties of created Universes) “So be it!”

And the closest entities were sent to the maximum distance from the Creator in a subtle sense. They lost his warmth, Light, forgot about his Love and became... demons.

These subtle demons each had their own specific sphere of influence. And from now on they were responsible for detecting, controlling and generally taking care of negative thoughts and emotions.

And also over people’s beliefs and the consequences of all this. People, as a way for the Creator to live multifaceted experience in matter, were already available, of course.

Examples from life

Is there a boomerang law in life? Yes. Surely you can remember more than one such case. Imagine two people, each of whom wants to take a higher position in their company. There is a struggle between them. One of them, considering himself smarter and more cunning, begins to tell management unpleasant information about his opponent. This leads to the latter being fired in disgrace. Or maybe he leaves on his own, unable to bear the gossip behind his back.

So, the competitor has been eliminated. You can feel safe. But is this really so? Soon management begins to make the same demands on the “winner”. And he himself is to blame for this. It was his idea to build relationships at work this way. She played a cruel joke on him. The result was dismissal.

The man thought that his behavior would go unpunished. But, as you can see, no one has yet canceled the boomerang law.

There are other examples. The woman decided to arrange personal happiness. But the object of her adoration is married and raising children. But this doesn't bother her. She makes every effort to take her loved one away from the family. And he, unable to withstand the pressure due to his weak nature, gets divorced.

At first, lovers feel happy. But suddenly it turns out that the newly made wife cannot have children. Her husband has no choice but to improve relations with his ex-wife. This is the only opportunity to communicate with my son and daughter.

The one who has become a homewrecker realizes the absurdity of her situation. Yes, she achieved what she wanted, she became the wife of her beloved man. But this did not bring her happiness. She has everything: money, career, home, position in society. There is only one thing missing - a feeling of significance for your man, his love.

Destroying her family, this woman did not think about the consequences. But, in accordance with the boomerang law, her negative energy returned to her. The rival found happiness in children. Later, she most likely arranged her personal life. But the homewrecker remained unsatisfied. The boomerang law in life during betrayal returned to all participants in this story.

What is a game of polarities?

For this purpose, the game of polarities was created. Let's play now, let's fantasize a little, like in childhood... Imagine a highly exaggerated part of the history of the Universe, but, nevertheless, reflecting the essence of the meaning of this idea. Something like a true fairy tale. Whoever needs it will believe it.

So, in the world of the Creator there was only boundless Light and one hundred percent unconditional Love. Worlds, entities were created, and in general how many beautiful things can be created in such conditions.

But at some point the Creator really needed to get a different experience. The experience of manifesting the power of Love at the maximum distance from Him, as from the Source.

It’s still a task, but experience is necessary for the evolution of all things. Therefore, nothing can be done. And so the entities of the first order of closeness to the Creator told him something like:

“We love you so much that we are ready to go as far away from you as possible, losing contact with Light and Love so that You in us and we all in You can receive this valuable, necessary experience.”

Let go. Farewell.

He who does not return anger with anger saves both - himself and the other. Ancient India

By being offended by a person or situation, each time you send a powerful negative destructive impulse, which will result in destructive negative events in your life.

It is simply unprofitable to be offended!

You yourself once launched this boomerang to yourself. Accept what happened as a fact. If you can fix something, do it. If not, just let it go. And focus on something positive.

Definition

The boomerang effect in psychology is the unintended consequences that occur when an argumentator tries to persuade and instead his opponent adopts the opposite position.

The definition of the concept comes from the traditional sickle-shaped weapon of the indigenous people of Australia, used for hunting particularly tricky game. The peculiarity of this weapon is that a sickle-shaped boomerang launched along a certain trajectory, even without hitting the target, always returned to the hands of its owner.

The boomerang also has the opposite effect, and if it is launched along the wrong trajectory, upon return it can kill the hunter who threw it.

Exactly the same processes were noticed in the middle of the 20th century. by media workers, when active mass propaganda provoked people only to reject the information received, accompanying this process with an effect diametrically opposite to the expected action.

At Daniel Katz's

In 1947, in the work “Psychological Barriers to Communication,” the American researcher Daniel Katz first published the opinion that excess information triggers a protective socio-psychological mechanism in the human mind, which has the effect of a barrier that prevents the absorption of propaganda.

K. Hovland, I. Janis and D. Kelly

In 1953, American psychologists K. Hovland, I. Janis and D. Kelly first registered and called the “boomerang effect,” noting that its occurrence is most likely:

  • when combining weak arguments with a negative source;
  • when the argumentator’s position is weak or unclear, causing the recipient of information to believe in the presence of a position completely opposite to the expected one;
  • with persuasion that causes aggression or unrelenting emotional arousal;
  • when the communicator is too far from the recipient’s position, which leads to the appearance of a “contrast” position.

Jack Brehm

In 1957, American psychologist Jack Brehm first drew attention to the phenomenon of a fait accompli, which, when the boomerang effect occurs, causes cognitive dissonance, leading to the fact that the event leads to a result opposite to the expected one.

As an experiment, he studied the behavior of eighth-graders forced to eat vegetables they didn’t like. As a result of the study, it was found that the greater the child’s dislike for vegetables before the experiment, the more the pressure increased, leading ultimately to the appearance of sympathy.

The result of this study by Brem was the assumption that as soon as a person begins to feel that his freedom to maintain or relate to a certain position is being limited, the stronger the psychological reactivity arises, aimed at obtaining the desired freedom and accompanied by the choice of a position diametrically opposed to expectations.

Yuri Alexandrovich Sherkovin

In 1972, the Soviet psychologist Yuri Aleksandrovich Sherkovin began studying the process, drawing attention to the periodically absent result of active media activity. In his work “Psychology of Mass Communications”, as an example of this phenomenon, the author described the work of the media to promote vaccination and the prevention of seasonal respiratory diseases.

During the work of Yu.A. Sherkovin noted that the active work of television and newspapers led to both positive results (affecting the quality of healthcare) and negative consequences (which forced people not to get vaccinated, but to hide from a possible infection or deny its danger). The Soviet psychologist characterized such a picture as the “negative influence” of the “boomerang effect,” which led to the emergence of a deviation of positive thinking in the opposite direction to the desired goals.

Explaining what happened, the doctor of psychology noted that the effectiveness of presentation largely depends on the audience’s satisfaction with the information received and its delivery in doses.

In the event of a lack of trust in the main information source or the emergence of public hostility towards it, a “boomerang effect” is triggered, leading to a sharp rejection by the audience of the propaganda imposed on it. The appearance of the “boomerang effect” is also possible in the absence of consistent argumentation on the part of the source supplying the information.

Boomerang effect in psychology

According to Yu.A. Sherkovin, preventing the emergence of the “boomerang effect” can only be done through a dosed supply of information from a reliable source that is respected by the majority of citizens with the obligatory inclusion of the masses in the processes under discussion.

A distinctive feature of the “boomerang effect,” according to Yu.A. Sherkovina is its possible side effect, in which the abundant and effective presentation of information triggers in the individual’s mind a desire to imitate what he saw. Thus, colorful television stories about crimes committed provoke the public to break the law. And media coverage of the suicide process can provoke a desire for suicide in the fragile mind of a teenager.
